From April to October, rooftops run Seville. The temperature drops after 8pm, the light goes pink over the cathedral, and every hotel with a terrace turns into a party. In 2026 the scene is larger than ever, with new entrants joining the classics. Here's where to go, what it costs, and when to book.
The Iconic Four
These are the rooftops that define the Seville skyline drink. Expect reservations 3 to 7 days out for sunset slots between April and October.
- EME Cathedral Mercer (Santa Cruz): the postcard rooftop. Giralda cathedral tower at eye level, DJ sets on weekends, cocktails around 14 to 18 euros. Book the sunset slot at 8pm.
- Las Setas Mirador (Encarnación): the Metropol Parasol viewing platform. Less a bar, more a sunset ritual with a drink included. Tickets around 15 euros and the 360 view beats every competitor.
- Hotel Doña María Terrace (Santa Cruz): the under-the-radar favourite. Pool on the roof, cathedral views, DJ Friday and Saturday. Cocktails 12 to 15 euros, residents get priority.
- Hotel Inglaterra Rooftop (Plaza Nueva): long-standing terrace with classic cocktail list and best views of Plaza Nueva and the cathedral on the far side.
Newer and Under-the-Radar Rooftops
Rooftops are the fastest-growing category in Seville hospitality. Several boutique hotels have opened new terrazas in the last two years that the main guidebooks still haven't caught up with.
- Hotel Hommage Rooftop (Plaza del Cristo de Burgos): small rooftop pool bar, cocktails with andaluz twists, quieter than EME on a Thursday.
- Kimpton Las Mercedes Rooftop (Plaza de las Mercedes): newer rooftop with wider deck and a DJ booth. Strong for Saturday sunset.
- Hotel Mercer Sevilla Rooftop (Alfonso XII): calm, boutique, better for a dinner-before-a-club feel than a full night.
- Terraza del Oriza (Paseo Catalina de Ribera): restaurant with a rooftop view, less scene, more dinner.
- Terraza Aire de Sevilla (Alfalfa): attached to a hammam, pool-and-cocktail vibe, understated.
- Hotel Casa 1800 Rooftop (Santa Cruz): intimate, small, perfect date spot with direct Giralda views.
Tardeo on the Rooftops
Rooftops are the natural home of Sunday tardeo in Seville. The format: arrive 5pm, order a gin tonic or a rebujito, listen to a relaxed DJ set until sunset around 8pm, stay for another hour or two and leave before midnight. No club follow-up, no next-day damage. This is the Seville ritual most locals pick after Ramadan-length Saturdays.
Sunset Timing
In June and July sunset in Seville is around 9:45pm, peak golden hour from 9:10pm. In April and October it's around 8pm. Book your rooftop reservation for 30 minutes before sunset, order a drink immediately, and save your camera for the 15 minutes when the Giralda turns deep gold.
Beyond Hotels: Traditional Terrazas
Not every great terraza is on a hotel roof. Seville is full of ground-level plazas that function as open-air bars from 8pm to 2am. These are where locals meet for a copa without the 45-minute hotel queue.
- Plaza del Salvador: the single best outdoor drinking plaza in the city. Cañas from La Antigua Abacería, standing crowd, full until 2am in summer.
- Alameda de Hércules: the main bohemian square. Dozens of terrazas, young crowd, indie music, no dress code.
- Plaza de la Alfalfa: central historic, tapas and copas, locals mix with tourists.
- Calle Betis (Triana riverside): classic river terrazas with the Torre del Oro across the Guadalquivir. Cheaper drinks, summer essential.
- Plaza del Altozano (Triana): the Triana central plaza, flamenco-adjacent, traditional crowd.
Price and Dress Guide
- Hotel rooftops: cocktails 12 to 18 euros, glasses of wine 6 to 10, no entry fee, smart-casual.
- Open-air plaza terrazas: cañas 2.50 euros, tinto de verano 3 to 4, no dress code.
- Riverside Triana: beers from 2 euros standing, 3.50 sitting, no reservations typically.
- Las Setas Mirador: 15 euros entry with drink, timed slots, no dress code.
- Premium rooftops (EME, Mercer, Kimpton): prepare for 15 to 20 euros per cocktail and a smart outfit.
Sequence for a Perfect Night
- 8pm: sunset cocktail at EME Cathedral or Las Setas.
- 9pm: walk down to dinner in Alfalfa or Santa Cruz.
- 11pm: switch to Plaza del Salvador or Alameda for a second copa.
- 12.30am: if you still want more, a rooftop DJ at Hotel Doña María for the terraza-to-club segue.
- 2am: taxi to Antique Theatro or Bilindo for the club segment.
The rooftops are the one part of Seville nightlife built specifically for tourists and locals to share. Go for the sunset, stay for the DJ, and you'll understand why the city spends half the year drinking at altitude.
